What are the procedures for getting a license? |

For both 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers, it is imperative to get a learner’s license before getting a permanent one. This can be got at the RTO near Sangam Bridge.

What is the requirement and procedure to obtain a Learner's license? (Both 2 and 4 wheelers) |

Documents Required
- 2 photographs (better to carry an extra one in case of emergency)
- Original ration card + Xerox of the same
- Certificate showing proof of age (birth certificate/X std certificate, etc) + Xerox of same
- Fill in details in form No.2, which is available at the RTO.
Procedure
At the RTO, there is a line where the above documents will be verified. After the verification, your knowledge on traffic rules and regulations as well as interpretation of symbols will be tested. However, if the need arises, they may take a written test too. After all this, a learner’s license will be issued. This license is valid for a period of 6 months and can be renewed for another 6 months just once though. The next time, a fresh learner’s license will have to be made following the whole earlier procedure.
Once the learner’s license is issued, it is only after a period of 30 days that a permanent license can be got. However, the test for the permanent license at Alandi should be given within the given 6 months before the expiry date of the learner’s license.

- R.C. (Registration book)
- T.C. (Taxation book)
- Insurance
- P.U.C. certificate
- All vehicle papers
- Learner’s license
- Fill in details in form No.4, which is available at the RTO
Procedure
All vehicle papers should be valid
A fee of Rs.35 is to be paid - Rs.15 as test fee and Rs.20 as license fee. Please note that the cost of fees is subject to change as per the government rules. From a number of 12 inspectors you will be assigned to any one of them. After he verifies and signs the papers of all the people assigned to him, you will be called to take the test by turns. If you pass the test then the signature of the superior inspector is required and the permanent license is issued. However, if you fail the test, then you can retake the test after 15 days. Also make sure that you are at Alandi between 10:30am and 12:00pm.

Renewal of Permenant License |

What is the procedure for renewal of Permenant license? |

- A medical form available at the RTO has to be filled up. It can be filled up either by your doctor or then there are RTO doctors.
- Form No.9 also available at the RTO has to be filled up.
Note
If you renew your license within the 30 days you will be charged Rs.15 but a fee of Rs.10 per month will have to be paid after the date of expiry.

Transfer of Record |

What is the procedure for transferring of record to another place? |

Make an application asking for a transfer to the required place in order to obtain an NOC (No Objection Certificate)
Opening and closing of records takes 2-3 days.

Registration of a New Car |

The company will take care of the formalities. However, the documents required are:
- Ration card as residential proof (telephone bill, light bill will also do)
- Verification of engine number and chassi no. 3 Octroi has to be paid.

International Driving Permit |

What is the requirement and procedure to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP)? |

- Indian license
- Original Passport

- A form for the IDP has to be filled up, which is available at the RTO
Procedure
Go to the ARTO (at the RTO, Sangam Bridge) with the above documents. After verifying the documents, they take an oral test after which you are issued the IDP. A fee has to be paid (which is liable to change as per government rules) and you are given a receipt. Here, the timings are from 10:00am-12:30pm.
Note: The addresses on the passport and the license should be the same. If this is not the case, then you will have to get the addresses on one of the documents changed in order to have the same address on both documents.
