Mohan Dharia hospitalised on the second day of fast

Mohan Dharia, former Union Minister and Vanari President was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after his health deteriorated on the second day of fast.

Mr. Dharia had gone on an indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday to protest against farmer suicides in Maharashtra. He is demanding welfare measures and waiver of loans taken by the farmers from the government.

According to Dharia's physician, he has a problem of ulcers and also suffers from blood pressure. Due to lack of blood supply to his heart, his blood pressure started fluctuating and he vomitted. His kidneys have also become week.

The 82 year old had gone to Aga Khan palace on Tuesday to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi before starting the fast. He then returned to the Vanarai office, the environmental organization formed by him, near Mitramandal Chowk in Parvati area to begin the fast.

Kindly support him in his fight to save the lives of debt-ridden farmers in Maharashtra. Send your messages of support to citizencentre@virtualpune.com

Suffering has its well-defined limits. Suffering can be both wise and unwise, and when the limit is reached, to prolong it would be not unwise but the height of folly.
~ Mahatma Gandhi
